John De Goes
CTO & Co-Founder
John A. De Goes is an architect, author, speaker, and prolific contributor to open source, who has been working in technology for nearly three decades.
A mathematician by training, but a computer scientist by vocation, John has a deep background in big data, distributed systems, and analytics.
His current professional interests lie around developing formal models for doing general-purpose analytics on semi-structured data models.
John is CTO at SlamData, Inc., where he leads product and engineering to develop a next-generation visual analytics solution for semi-structured data.
SlamData was formed in early 2014 in recognition that the primary methods for analytics on NoSQL data were far too complex and resource intensive. Even simple questions required learning new technologies, writing complex ETL processes or even coding. We created the SlamData project to address this problem.
In contrast to legacy vendors, which emphasize trying to make the data fit legacy analytics infrastructure, SlamData focuses on trying to make the analytics infrastructure fit the data.
The SlamData solution provides a visual interface to explore and query NoSQL data. This makes modern NoSQL data accessible to anyone. SlamData retains the leading developers of the SlamData open source project and provides commercial support and training around the open source analytics technology.
SlamData culture is based on open communication, collaboration and innovation. Our global team of developers brings multiple unique perspectives to our projects and our belief in work life balance. We are committed to the principles of open source software development and engaging with people that can bring value to every aspect of our solution, team, and lives.
SlamData is a global team with members representing 4 countries and 5 U.S. States. Our backgrounds and influences are wide ranging and contribute to creating a high energy inclusive work environment.
